Microsoft screwed this operating system up so badly that most of the Fortune 500 is taking a pass on Vista and waiting for the next OS. Lawyers, in particular, have been plagued with having to upgrade software that is Vista-compatible – and sometimes, that software doesn’t exist.
Many folks are under a misapprehension that they have to get Vista if they get a new computer. Not so. It may come with Vista, but you can (and should) downgrade to XP. The smart money is waiting for Redmond to figure out the new OS, due in 2010, and get it right. So far, it has the remarkably drab name of Windows 7 – time for a creative writing course, perhaps?
Tired of the blah, blah, blah about IT? Do you reach for the Advil? Fall asleep reading IT news? Wish the talking heads could speak English?
Welcome to The Digital Samurai, where we will talk about everything IT related. No holds barred, gloves are off and there are no sacred cows. A lot of legal tech will be covered, because we are consultants to over 200 law firms in the metro D.C. area. But we’ll cover technology generally as well.
Why listen to us? John has worked in IT for more than 30 years – before founding Sensei Enterprises, Inc, he was designing and troubleshooting the networks of Mobil Oil. These days, John is Sensei’s Vice President, a nationally known computer forensics expert, author and lecturer. And he single-handedly supports the IT infrastructure of our company, more because he loves it than because he has to.
Now on to the “grasshopper” and apprentice….John brought Mike on board as a sapling, fresh from college and has fanned the fires of his natural genius. Mike is here to strike a harmonic balance with Sensei John. Mike is Sensei’s Director of Computer Forensics at Sensei Enterprises, Inc. and is also a testifying expert. He was formerly the Director of IT and still keeps his skills sharp, assisting on both sides of Sensei’s house.
Along with Sensei’s President, Sharon Nelson, Mike and John most recently published a well-reviewed book entitled “The 2008 Solo and Small Firm Legal Technology Guide: Critical Decision Made Simple”, published by the American Bar Association in February, 2008.
Thanks for coming to the party. BYOB. And attitude. We have lots of that, but more is always welcome. This is only an intro post, but we’re figuring out who to put in our crosshairs for the future. If you have any suggestions for posts or comments, please feel free to e-mail us at digitalsamurai@senseient.com.
